CBD and Drug Tests – Can you pass?
Have you been wondering if you can pass a drug test under the influence of CBD? Study on CBD and Drug Tests suggests that unaware consumers may have no idea that some CBD product still contain traces of THC.
THC is a psychoactive substance found in marijuana. Having traces of this substance on CBD products may lead to consumers being susceptible to failing a drug test.
Hempworx products have 0.3% of THC in each Full Spectrum CBD Oil bottle. Hold your horses! Don't let that discourage you, 0.3% will not likely lead to failing your drug test.
To put you at ease, we also have THC FREE CBD Oil which contains no THC at all!
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is just one of over 85 cannabinoids that is identified in the cannabis plant.
Simply put, cannabis oil is the concentrated liquid extract of the marijuana plant, Cannabis sativa.
Similar to other herbal extracts, the chemicals in cannabis oils vary depending on how the extract is made and what chemicals were in the plant to begin with.
Cannabis plants produce thousands of compounds but the most well recognized belong to a class called cannabinoids. There are several cannabinoids but the two that are most well-known among consumers are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol).
Cannabidiol (CBD) is not only a major phytocannabinoid, it is the most concentrated form from the three main cannabis plants. The three main fors to use cannabis are Hashish, Resin, & Oil.
Can CBD cause you to fail a drug test?
You are most likely concern about failing your drug test when you use CBD, that should not be a problem. You will not fail a drug test when you consume CBD alone. CBD is a non-psychoactive substance making it safe to consumers when they undergo regular drug testing procedure.
Some CBD products however contains traces of THC which will lead to psychoactive effects when consumed in large amount. Medical marijuana contains significant amount of THC that's why it is being carefully used to avoid this unfortunate situations.
During drug testing, they are looking for the presence of THC in your body and not CBD. You are likely safe when you are using pure CBD products.
How drug tests work
Drug tests take urine, hair, sweat, blood, or saliva to analyze the presence of illegal and prescription drugs. According to Dixie Botanicals, one of the most common screening methods is urine drug testing, or UDT.
The two kinds of UDT methods are screening tests and confirmatory tests. Screening test use an immunoassay to detect certain substances. If the screening test comes back positive, the lab uses a confirmatory UDT to confirm which drugs are present.
Rest assured, while drug tests have become increasingly sophisticated over the years, even tests designed to detect marijuana don’t indicate CBD levels in the panel. Dixie Botanicals explains that the majority of workplace drug screens testing for marijuana focus on tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
That’s the psychoactive compound responsible for getting people “high” by binding with the cannabinoid receptors in the brain. These drug tests also screen for THC’s main metabolite, 11-nor-deltag-caboxy-THC.
Full Spectrum CBD and Drug tests
The answer to that question greatly depends on a few things. What type of drug test are we talking about? A drug test for probation or a drug test for a casino job? There is a big difference as one is commonly a urine test and the other a hair follicle test. Drug tests aren’t always for employment. There are several reasons one may have to take a drug test and several different types of drug tests.
Full spectrum extraction or FSE CBD produced from hemp should not show up in a drug test for probation unless you’ve been consuming extremely high titrates daily for a substantial amount of time. It’s estimated that you’d have to be consuming 2000 milligrams of CBD or more daily before you might fail a drug test.
How could you fail a drug test for THC if you were only taking CBD? It is because hemp does contain small traces of THC (0.003% or less) in it. So if you were using full spectrum CBD oil, it would contain all terpenes and compounds from hemp plant including THC. Very large titrates (estimated dosages) of full spectrum CBD could show traces of THC in certain people.
Can I consume pure CBD products?
With moderate use, YES! You can definitely use CBD products. It is legal in the U.S, therefore, it does not require medical marijuana license for you to use it.
